Students in this course will learn to assemble, install, and test wiring, fixtures and devices used in commercial, industrial, and residential applications. In addition, they will learn to keep all types of electrical equipment in working order. Students will learn and apply trade-related math skills, including measurements, geometry, and algebra. They will also learn and apply theory by calculating amperage, voltage, current and power in electrical circuits. Students will also learn and apply good communication and computer skills. By completing hands-on projects students will develop good manual dexterity and mechanical ability. They will learn to read blueprints and schematics for motor control and P.L.C.’s. The students’ skill set and job readiness will be measured based upon National Electrical Code standards.
